Alan Salisbury ‘Things are not what they seem’

Last evening went to a talk by Alan Salisbury in Cardiff. It was one in a series of lectures organized by CASW which are held each month. Alan gave us a quick run through of his artistic career, showing examples of his work along the way. His humour came across both in his paintings and as he spoke.

Here are a few of my jottings I made.

Art is a place you can relax in – Matisse

Things that emerge quietly as you see the painting work the best

The best paintings have ambiguity, they don’t have endings, they are open to allow the viewer to draw their own conclusion.

Here are some examples of his work taken from the Walesonline website.
