Embossing in the print room

Had a lovely afternoon in the print room with the technician Nicola. She helped me emboss some of my daily pieces. Originally I was going to print with them by making a calliagraph but decided against it as I don’t want to use colour. I used Somerset paper which is perfect for my work as it’s a rich cream colour and 100% cotton – really in keeping with what I’m doing. Some of the sheets were used dry and others left to soak for about 1/2 hour. I don’t think there was a great deal of difference between the two in terms of results but far more trouble having to dry the wet paper taped to a wall so it didn’t buckle. I had to steam my pieces of knitting after they’d been through the press as they were well and truly flattened.

Later in the day I picked another textual stitch, honeycomb, although I can’t quite see the resemblance
