Good Friday

Another marker of the year. I remember when I was a child that hot cross buns could only be purchased on Good Friday. I was sent down to the baker at the bottom of the street to buy some around 10.30 in the morning so we could have one with our elevenses. This consisted of a cup of instant coffee made with boiled milk and sweetened. No wonder I only drink fresh black coffee now! But I still love Hot Cross Buns.

Pity there isn’t a hot cross bun stitch but I chose woven basket stitch in remembrance of collecting the buns in a wicker basket.
